Objective

The student will learn to play the piano and appreciate music through weekly history and theory lessons.  The goal of this class is to enhance the student's basic skills in sight reading, technique, listening, rhythm, theory, practice methods, and performance experience.

Lessons are to be paid monthly and payment is expected at the first lesson of each month.  Payment not received by this time is grounds for dismissal.

30 minute semi-private - $16.00

Concerts, Recitals, Master Classes, etc.

It is the teacher's responsibility to inspire students by performing pieces for them in their lessons or in public; however, beyond the studio the teacher has little control over what the student/child does.  So as a parent, it is your responsibility to inspire your child's interest and love in music by encouraging him or her to attend concerts, recitals, and master classes.

Attendance

Attendance and punctuality are VERY important!  Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons, punctually and prepared.  There is a no make-up policy for students missing lessons for any reason (unless priory discussed with the teacher).  After three unexcused absences the student becomes eligible for dismissal.

Excused Absence - In order for any absence to be excused the teacher must receive a 24 hr. prior notification.

Unexcused Absence - All other absences are considered unexcused

Practice

Practicing must be consistent, efficient, and MUST be done daily.  It is also important to note that practicing does not just consist of daily repetitions.  Practicing is an art which may only be mastered by the student solving technical problems through his or her knowledge and interpretation of the music.  Practice schedules will be assigned accordingly by the teacher.

          Beginner - 30 minutes daily

          Intermediate - 45 minutes daily

          Advanced - 60 minutes daily
